Symposium on "Integrative Biodiversity Research", March 2013
We proudly announce the upcoming symposium on “Integrative Biodiversity Research” of the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig.
We are expecting more than 50 applicants for the eight professor positions advertised in iDiv who will present their scientific highlights and research visions in a public symposium to be held in Leipzig in March 2013. The group of invited candidates is as diverse as the scientific subject of iDiv itself. Almost half of them come from abroad or hold positions outside Germany. Young shooting stars, as well as well-established researchers, will cover a wide spectrum of modern biodiversity science with their talks.
A full day is reserved for each of the eight professorships and between six and eight talks are scheduled with enough time for discussions and breaks. The event unfolds in the following sequence:
- 04.03. Evolution and Adaptation
- 11.03. Biodiversity Synthesis
- 12.03. Molecular Interaction Ecology
- 13.03. Biodiversity Conservation
- 14.03. Theory in Biodiversity Sciences
- 15.03. Physiological Diversity
- 18.03. Experimental Interaction Ecology
- 04.04. Ecosystem Services
The symposium will take place in the BIOCITY, Deutscher Platz 5, 04103 Leipzig – the interim headquarter of iDiv – in the lecture hall of the BBZ (Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine) unless announced otherwise. The detailed program will be updated regularly (download below).
Please join us for these exciting eight days. We are looking forward to meeting many of you in Leipzig.
The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research - iDiv, is a hub for international biodiversity science with its central mission Detection:
to promote theory-driven data-driven synthesis and theory as well the scientific foundation for management of the earth’s biodiversity.
The Synthesis Centre for Biodiversity Sciences - sDiv is the main instrument of iDiv to foster theoretical and synthetic thinking in biodiversity sciences by bringing together researchers from different projects and disciplines and creating conditions that will promote a creative process.
The research training group of young biodiversity researchers - yDiv, has been designed to educate a new generation of scientists in transdisciplinary biodiversity research.
