The German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research - iDiv, is a hub for international biodiversity science with its central mission Detection: to promote theory-driven data-driven synthesis and theory as well the scientific foundation for management of the earth’s biodiversity.
The Synthesis Centre for Biodiversity Sciences - sDiv is the main instrument of iDiv to foster theoretical and synthetic thinking in biodiversity sciences by bringing together researchers from different projects and disciplines and creating conditions that will promote a creative process.
The research training group of young biodiversity researchers - yDiv, has been designed to educate a new generation of scientists in transdisciplinary biodiversity research.

The Synthesis Centre for Biodiversity Sciences - sDiv

Embedded in the active research environment of iDiv, the Synthesis Centre for Biodiversity Sciences (sDiv) will offer international workshops, postdoc positions and a sabbatical programme to catalyze theoretical and synthetic thinking about biodiversity. As an additional "think tank", it brings together researchers from different projects and disciplines and creates conditions that promote a creative process. The centre is open to everyone and supports national as well as international working groups focusing on theory-driven synthesis projects. These working groups are supported by four postdocs and integrate leading scientists in a sabbatical programme.

At the moment we are in the middle of the review phase for all sDiv proposals of the 1st call. Thanks to all researchers who showed interest in this very first sDiv call.

More details about funded projects will follow end of may.
